What better way to spend a Friday evening than strolling the streets of Old Mazatlan, gaining entrance to the historic buildings and taking a peak at unique works of art, either in completed form or as works in progress.
First Fridays Artwalk/Camino de Arte is a free self-guided walking tour of artist studios and galleries in Mazatlan’s Historic Center. On the first Friday of every month, November through May, artist studios and galleries will be open from 4 to 8pm. This coming season will feature 26 sites with over 35 artists and includes a wide variety of media including painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, fabric art and jewelry.
The Artwalk was created to bring visibility to the thriving visual arts community in Mazatlan. What better way to spend a Friday evening than strolling the streets of Old Mazatlan, gaining entrance to the historic buildings and taking a peak at unique works of art, either in completed form or as works in progress. Visitors on the walking tour will be able to simply enjoy the art and meet the artists or purchase unique works of art, or both. It’s something fun to do on a Friday night – and it becomes a real scene on the streets of the Historic Center, watching people moving to and fro at various sites with maps in hand.
Balloons and banners mark each location throughout the Historic Center area. The dates for the coming season are: November 5, December 3, January 7, February 4, March 4, April 1, and May 6. Free maps of the participating sites are available in stores, hotels and restaurants, and on the official website where one can view the artists’ work:
