Cultural Sites and Museums

Among the main cultural products offered Mazatlán, you would find the The Angela PeraltaTheater, the quintessential cultural precinct in the city and an invaluable piece of architecture built in the late nineteenth century. Mazatlán’s Culture is the birthplace and headquarters of important exponents of Mexican art and it’s also linked to figures of the universal culture as the opera diva Angela Peralta.

Together, the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Art house steeped in history and pieces that date back almost 2000 years. The first, a journey through the major stages in the history of Sinaloa, while the second one located just few steps from the first, highlighted the variety of cultural activities carried out in this place and the various artistic works of major Mexican artists as Rufino Tamayo and Jose Luis Cuevas, as well as hosting outstanding international artists.

Angela Peralta Theater. Angela Peralta Theater is site of many important artistic and cultural events since its re-inaugurated in 1992. The building itself is most impressive and one should not miss it. Read more

Machado Plaza. Constitucion and Sixto Osuna, near Carnaval.This plaza is named after the Filipino, Juan Nepomuceno Machado, who donated the land to build what is now the city’s second oldest plaza. It is the traditional site of Carnaval and it has been the heart of old Mazatlan during the last century. Read more
